9/30/2009

Helped Josh move his in-laws into their new place for an hour and a half in the morning.Otherwise kid of a quiet and uneventful day at work.

9/29/2009

Worked from 8:30 until 4:00 with a half hour lunch. Lucy and Bowden had soccer practice in the afternoon. It drizzled briefly during Bowden's practice followed by a gorgeous rainbow. Worked on my next paper a little before heading up to bed.

9/28/2009

Day off. Didn't do much with it. Mostly prepared bobberball kits for mailing. Received a package from Lisa McNerney in the mail containing "bars." Marin and her kids came over for dinner, and we enjoyed hanging out with them until it was time to put the kids to sleep. Fell asleep in the recliner before heading up to bed.

9/27/2009

Camp left today. Went to church. Submitted my membership and elder applications to Tim. He said that the elders wanted to meet withme formally to discuss my views on Annihilationism- doesn't bode well for chances. Ah well. Sad day for the skins as they lost to the Detroit Lions- the first team to lose to Detroit in almost two years! Kind of a depressing day. In the afternoon we loaded the kids into the van and drove down to Hemet so i could buy some much need supplies for the upcoming Bobberball tournament.

9/26/2009

Worked from 8:00 until 4:30 with a half hour lunch. Bill Sanborn brought by a used dryer that Priefers had gotten rid of. Took the old dryer to the dump and hooked up its replacement. It failed to gerate heat though. I'm not suire what's wrong with it. Stayed up late (2:00 am) working on school stuff again, but the good news is that I more or less finished the paper I have been working on.

9/25/2009

Worked from 8:30 until 3:00 and 6:00 until 6:30 with a half hour lunch. WHFM ACCSC retreat arrived in the afternoon, but I was left watching Miles and Jack while Sarah took Bowden and Lucy to their soccer games. Stayed up until 1:30 working on school.

9/24/2009

Worked from 8:30 until 4:30 with a half hour lunch. Kochs came over for dinner in the afternoon. It was fun getting together with them again. They stayed and visited for awhile and then I worked a little on school work before turning in for the night.

9/23/2009

Worked from 8:30 until 4:30 with a half hour lunch. Small group in the afternoon. Did a little school work before bed.

9/22/2009

Worked from 8:30 until 3:30 with an hour lunch. Left work early to go with sarah over to the soccer field. Lucy's soccer practice is at 4:00 and Bowden's is at 5:00. Sarah is the coach of Bowden's team. While she was coaching I took the other kids down to the playground where we hung out with Marin and her kids until sarah and Bowden came down. I made dinner, broccoli and Tuna Helper before putting the kids to bed. Stayed up until 1:30 working on a paper of Managing Conflict.Rough night with the kids waking up and trying to get into bed with us. Ended up sleeping on the floor next to Jack.

9/21/2009

Day off. Sarah was home by 8:30. Worked around the house a lot- laundry, dishes, etc... I picked up the kids from school. Good to have everyone home again. Made a blueberry/peach crisp as part of my plan to become handier in the kitchen this winter. Went for a walk with the kids on the nature trail before dinner.

9/19/2009

Worked from 7:45 until 4:00 and again from 4:30 until 7:30 pm (in the kitchen). School work in the evening. Trustees and Camp Operation Committee meeting today as well.Took the Whites some apples from the camp's tree.

9/20/2009

Sarah and the kids still up in the valley. Cleaned the house, watched football, and made a lot of progress on my school work. Redskins beat the Rams 9-7. I listened to the game while I worked on my paper. Sarah called in the evening to say that she was too tired to drive home so she was going to spend the night up there and leave early enough in the morning to get the kids to school on time

9/18/2009

Worked from 8:30 until 5:00 pm. with an hour lunch break. Went to the dump in the morning. After lunch I helped Marin move a couch to her place across town with the camp truck. The couch was surprisingly heavy so I gave Josh White a call and he met me at Marin's place and helped me muscle it inside. Sarah left after lunch to attend a Modugno-Fusano-Modugno family reunion in Simi Valley. I wish I could have attended, but I will be taking a lot of time off in October and I already missed one day of work this week because of jury duty on Tuesday. It was sad. I like getting together with Sarah's family and I would have enjoyed meeting some more of her extended family. At 8:00 I rode my bike over to Josh and Emily's house to play a game of Catan. Emily's brother and sister-in-law were in town for a visit and I had a nice time with them. Emily's brother, Doug. entered the Bobberball tournament, which delighted me to no end. Fell asleep in an empty house. I hate when Sarah and the kids are gone.

9/17/2009

Day began with giving baths to Bowden and Lucy. Today was "picture day" at school so they were bathed and dressed in special picture day clothes before heading out to school and preschool respectively. At work by 8:30. Did some maintenance work in the morning, but spent the rest of the day in the office. Soccer practice began today for Bowden and Lucy. Sarah is coaching Bowden's team this year. Did some course work and reading for my Managing Conflict class before bed.

9/16/2009

Worked from 8:30 until 4:00 spending most of the day in the office. Small Group in the evening was well attended and a lot of fun. Lots of folks hung around afterward and just hung out, which I love.

9/15/2009

Jury duty today in Corona. Left home at 9:30 am and got there at about 11:00. I ate lunch and did some school work before reporting to the court house at 12:30. Ultimately I was excused by the Honorable Judge Riggs for hardship reasons. Sole supporter of my household, only one car, live all the way in Idyllwild, blah blah blah. You could hear violins in the background.

9/14/2009

Took the day off. Sarah went off the hill with Miles and Lisa as Miles had a doctor's visit. Something with his insurance was not in order so they ended up having to reschedule with the doctor. They had a fun and productive time off the hill, and were joined by Jess Miller. Sarah got home around dinner time, and so we traded places and I drove over to Bill Sanborn's house where some of the guys from church were having a Monday night football party. We hung out, ate some meat, and watched football. It was a lot of fun. Patriots vs. Bills- Patriots won 25-24.

9/13/2009

Took the day off for the most part. Went to church in the morning. Today was the day of the all church picnic and baptism here at Camp. I lifeguarded the free swim from 1:15 until 3:30. The baptism was great. The highlight for me was the baptism of Dennis Cavanaugh's elderly mother. After the baptism was the picnic, which was fun as always. I think a bigger crowd showed up than in past years- we ran out of food, but luckily there were enough ice cream sandwiches to go around. I taped the Redskins game during the swim, baptism and picnic, and watched it in the evening while Sarah visited with Marin. Last night the kidsand I finished the secret garden as our bed time book so tonight we started the Wizard of Oz. They seem to like it so far.

9/12/2009

Worked in the office most of the day labeling postcards for a mass mailing. Sarah worked dinner again.

9/11/2009

Worked, primarily in the office until approximately 4:00 pm. I had to go home then because Sarah needed to go up to town hall to be fingerprinted. She has volunteered to be the coach of Bowden's soccer team. As soon as Sarah came back from that she went into the kitchen to work dinner. Two groups arrived, ACCSC Men and Overseas Mission Fellowship, for dinner.

9/10/2009

At 9:00 I went over to the church to take my Theology I exam. I think I did fine. Tim was kind enough to proctor the exam for me. Worked in the afternoon until about 5:00. First NFL game of the season was on TV- Titans vs. Steelers. It was fun to watch real football again- the Steelers won.

9/9/2009

Slightly warmer today. Worked during the morning. Stayed home after lunch to clean the house and set up for the first Small Group of the year. In the afternoon, Lucy began complaining of an upset stomach, and promptly threw up in the bathroom. She hadn't shown any signs of being sick and afterward she seemed fine. We monitored her throughout the afternoon, but she seemed her normal self. We kept her home from Awanas just to be on the safe side, and she watched a movie upstairs while we had our first gathering. I'm really excited about the group we have this year. We had about 20 people come, and Sarah made a great chili with corn bread dinner. I'm glad that this season of ministry is back. I love having the gatherings to look forward to on Wednesday nights. Stayed up until 1:00 am studying for my Theology I exam.

SEPTEMBER 7, 2009

Labor Day- Bowden and Lucy had day off from school. Surprisingly chilly this morning. Lucy and Jack complained about being "coldy" when they stumbled downstairs and Jack's teeth were chattering so I lit a fire in the fireplace- first fire of the season. Worked for about a half hour in the morning, but otherwise took the day off. I harvested some seeds from the Hollyhocks and day Lillies next to the house. I hope to start them inside next spring before planting them outside. Nanny surprised us by coming down from Sylmar for a few hours in the afternoon. She generously took us out to dinner at Cafe Aroma. After dinner we came home and made smores in the fireplace. Studied a bit for my Theology I test before bed.
